Get to know the Amalfi coast better! Plan your trip to Vietri sul Mare - a real purl of Amalfi Coast.

Vietri Sul Mare Bella Italy Travel

Today we would like to tell you about a small town that is less famous than Amalfi, Positano or Ravello, but which is no less worthy of your attention – Vietri sul Mare. This is a highlight of the Amalfi coast. Let's walk along the streets of this lovely and authentic town together and look deep into its history.

One of the symbols of Vietri sul Mare is the ceramic industry. Here you will find colorful shops with lots of ceramic products everywhere (by the way, a great place for photos), and almost all shops, bars and cafes are decorated with them too. This creates a feeling of even greater comfort and a sense of joy from the bright colors that complement the incredibly beautiful views of the Amalfi coast and its nature.

In the town you can see a ceramic production plant, which is difficult not to notice, because outside it is all painted with ceramics. By the way, this building, designed by Paolo Soleri, is one of the ten most unusual structures in the world. The factory has four generations of owners – the family to which it belongs. And it was founded in 1953. By the way, it is important to note that ceramic production itself originates as early as the 15th century. And this, of course, tracks a separate post.

Another and perhaps the most important symbol of Vetri sul Mare, which you will see from afar – this is the dome of San Giovanni Battista church decorated with ceramic majolica.

Vietri sul Mare, like most Italian towns, preserves the history of thousands of years. Its walls are remembered by the Etruscans and Romans; the times when the city was a port for the Benedictine Abbey of the Holy Trinity in Cava de Tirreni. This town itself still exists and the large monastery complex, founded by the hermit of Salerno Alferio in 1011, has been preserved to this day.

Walking through Vietri sul Mare, stop your attention at the ceramic mosaic wall paintings – they will devote you to the history of the city, its development and culture.

Undoubtedly, this Amalfi Coast's town is one of the most photographic places, thanks to its bright landscapes, cozy streets and, of course, ceramic products!
