The history of Morano Calabro, located on a mountain about 700 m with panoramic views of Pollino Park, originates in the Magno–Greek era, which translates as "Great Greece", in the 7th century BC. The core of the city is a Norman castle located between the mountains and the sky, preserving the atmosphere of that ancient city. The castle, which for centuries protected access to Calabria, was renovated and expanded in the first half of the 500s by Prince Bisignano, feudal lord of Morano; in the 17th century, the fortress passed to the Princes Spinelli Scalei, the new lords of Morano until 1806. The same feudal lords also owned a Palace located in the lower part of the city, next to the arch that towers over the ancient state of the Calabrians. Walking here, you can actually travel through time, because Morano Calabro combines modernity and antiquity, and passes on from generation to generation keeps a deep history.

Take a walk around the castle grounds, climb up the spiral staircase and just imagine, for so many years these huge boulders, from which it was once built by local residents who walked just like us here, kept horses in stables, cooked their lunch and watched from special panoramic points in the distance: "is it approaching the enemy"?

By the way, in Morano Calabro, as in many cities, electric bicycles are gaining popularity, which is very convenient for movement.

Already from afar, approaching the city, you will see a dome and a bell tower made of faience with green ochre, which goes so well with the blue sky, roof tiles and the greenery of the mountains. This is the dome of the second most important place in the city, around which the village developed in the 16th century.
