Casino di Donna Maria is located in an 18th-century building, 2 km from the center of Mormanno. The history of this building dates back to the 18th century, and since then it has belonged to the same family. The house of Donna Maria owes its name to N. D. Maria the third, daughter of Don Cicillo, a Morman lawyer. She married a young Neapolitan, Pasquale Marragoni, with whom she had three children: Augusto, Camillo and Lina. Soon widowed, D. Maria raised and taught her children, managing the family property. The cottage was a country residence where the family spent their summer holidays and harvested crops donated by the countryside.
La Terza family is one of the ancient Mormannian families, which gave rise to outstanding characters from the history of Morman. Among them are Minister Antonio, who built a rolling road in 1860; Don Federico, the grandfather of Donna Maria, Don Ulysses and Don Constantino, examples of fervent patriotism; Don Rocco, mayor and member of the sanitary commission during the cholera period, who worked to save the sick and decent burial of the dead; Don Francesco, priest, master of ceremonies and prosecutor the clergy who wanted to build the sacristy of the Mother Church.
This family house, converted into a mini-hotel, has only three rooms: they are spacious, with high flows and decorations of the past centuries, which are perfectly preserved and perfectly combined with more modern interior details. Since the hotel has only three rooms, each of which is a bit like a museum, we felt very secluded here, surrounded by a stunning panorama and green meadows.
On the day of arrival, we decided to spend the whole day by the pool, and in the evening the hotel owner kindly prepared us an aperitif of the best local snacks with cheese and meat dishes, perfectly combined with the wine of this region. Sitting under the canopy of the vineyard, we truly enjoyed a romantic evening with a stunning sunset to the sounds of cicatas. Breakfast, after a great sleep on a comfortable and spacious bed, also pleased us with its fresh homemade sweets.
In everything that has been created here, you can feel the love of the owners for their work and their care for tourists. For those who want to immerse themselves in the local atmosphere with a great family history, this is the perfect place!
