At the beginning of the nineteenth century, it was acquired by Caroline Brunswick, Princess of Wales, who, forgetting her title, fell in love with her chamberlain, Bartolomeo Pergami. Here their love story developed, which cost the princess a royal title. Another village, Griante, is famous for its wines, to which Stendhal devoted many pages in the novel "The Monastery of Parma". Between Tremezzo and Cadenabbia is another famous villa - Villa Carlotta, a huge palace full of precious works of art with a beautiful magnolia park.
